Multiple Teams · MHS Sports Report – 8/18/14

Let competitions begin!

After two weeks of practices and scrimmages, most of our fall sports open up their season this coming week.  There are some big events this coming week and we hope that you will be able to come out and support our Pioneers.

Girls Soccer will open up at home tonight vs Center Grove.  The JV game will start at 5:30pm with the Varsity game starting at approximately 7:00pm.  Coach McAdams will be coaching his first game as the Head Coach of the Lady Pioneers.  The game will be played at the Mooresville Soccer Complex off of Landersdale Rd.  The Girls Golf team will also play tonight at home vs. Monrovia.  The match will start at 4:00pm and will be played at Eagle Pines. Volleyball will have their home opener on Tuesday night vs Monrovia.  The JV game will start at 5:30pm and the varsity game at approximately 6:30pm.  Cross Country will open up at the Beech Grove Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.  The meet will start at 5:00pm.  The Boys Tennis team open up their season at home on Tuesday.  The match will start at 5:00pm. Girls and Boys Soccer Team will open up Mid-State Conference action this week vs Decatur Central. On Friday, the Varsity Football team will play their first game of the season against Lebanon High School.  The game will be at Lebanon and will start at 7:00pm.

Also, the weather appears to be warming up and we might actually see summer-like temperatures and humidity this week. With that being the case, we need to make sure that our student-athletes are taking care of themselves with the warmer temperatures.  We encourage them all to increase their hydration levels for both practices and competitions.  They need to start a few days ahead of time getting their bodies prepared and not wait until the day of the competition.  They are allowed to drink water during school as long as it is in a clear plastic bottle.  We highly encourage our athletes to always have water with them during the school day and constantly be hydrating.

For those of you that have been looking at the schedules on the website, you may have noticed that there have been some errors.  We have been working with VNN to remedy the situation.  They have been having some trouble getting their software to work with our scheduling software.  Please know that they are working diligently to get it fixed.  For the time being, we have attached the schedule for this coming weeks events.  The following document has a list of all the teams and their competitions throughout this week.  Week of August 18

Lastly, if you haven’t had a chance to sign up for the VNN Alerts, we highly encourage that you do.  When we have last minute cancellations for practices or competitions, we will send out reminders through VNN Alerts and they will also be posted on the website under the Alerts tab.  Please click HERE to get signed up.
