August 18 – August 23, 2014
The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Edward Jones Athlete of the Week Award for the week of August 18-23, 2014. This week’s award is given to one male and one female student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Edward Jones is a proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill from Edward Jones to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Soccer: Senior, Kellie Cavanaugh
Last week, in three games, Kellie scored 3 goals including 2 goals against a tough Columbus East team. Kellie has experienced excruciating pain in her foot all summer. In fact, she will have surgery on Tuesday to remove a bone spur in her foot. Most people would sit out and not play. However, Kellie is still playing despite limited practice time and pain. Mooresville High School applauses the toughness and character of Kellie Cavanaugh.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Tennis: Junior, David Freund
David was 2-0 this week with wins over Beech Grove and Owen Valley. David played #2 singles for us and was a crucial part of each match which helped the boys tennis team to start off the year 2-0. David has worked very hard here early in the season. You can see it in his record and in the stats we keep every match. He is improving each match.
