Edward Jones Athlete of the Week

September 1, 2014 – September 6, 2014

 

The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Edward Jones Athlete of the Week Award for the week of September 1-6, 2014.  This week’s award is given to one male and one female student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Edward Jones is a proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department.  The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill from Edward Jones to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Cross Country, Sophomore Madison Vauters

The Lady Pioneers respectably finished 10th at the Martinsville Artesian Invitational on Saturday.  Madison finished 5th overall and set a new school record, crossing the line in a time of 19:39.  Madison has been a true go getter and leader.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Football:  Senior, Riley Swatts

Riley Swatts had an outstanding performance in the 20-6 win vs. Plainfield this past Friday night.  As a wide receiver for the Pioneers, Riley had 6 catches for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Riley also had a fantastic night punting with 5 punts for an average of 41.4 yards per punt.  Riley displays the definition of a team player by always thinking of the team first and showing up each day and working at his full potential. On the season, Riley has 9 receptions for 215 yards with an average of 23.9 yards per catch and 4 touchdown receptions.
