Big Weekend for the Pioneers!
The Pioneers have a busy and exciting weekend.
Tonight the Pioneer Boys Basketball teams will be traveling to Martinsville for a big Mid-State Conference match-up. The Pioneers are entering the game with an overall record of 12-2 and a conference record of 3-1. The Artesians enter the game with an 11-5 record and a conference record of 4-0. This game will ultimately decide who will win the Mid-State Conference Title. The JV/9th game starts at 6pm with the varsity game to follow (approximately 7:45pm).
On Saturday, the Pioneers will be playing at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the Hoosier Invitational against New Palestine. This is the 4th game of the event and it is scheduled to start at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are good for every game. This will be a Varsity only game with the JV playing at halftime. It should be an exciting game in a great venue!
Also on Saturday, the 5 Pioneer Wrestlers will be competing at the IHSAA Regional. The tournament will be held at Mooresville High School and wrestling will start at 9am. The 5 Pioneers that advanced are: Brody Boles, Mitch Anderson, Christian Warren, Andrew Sanders, and Randy Scott. Of the five the Pioneers wrestling, four of those are coming off of Sectional Championships (Boles, Anderson, Warren, & Scott). The first round of wrestling tomorrow is very important. By winning that first match, that would put them in the top 4 in their weight class and would allow them to advance to the Semi-state the following Saturday. It should be an exciting day of wrestling with a number of top ranked wrestlers from area schools competing. Below are the 4 Sectional Champions.
On Saturday morning, Macy Sutkowski will be competing in IHSAA Sectional Diving competition. The meet will be held at Franklin Community High School and she will be starting at 8am. At 1pm, the finals for Sectionals will begin for both the swimmers and divers. Haley Wilson will be competing in the 200 IM along with all 3 relay teams that afternoon. It will definitely be a competitive day of swimming.
There are some exciting events over the next couple of days. We hope that everyone will get a chance to come out and support our great Student-Athletes!
