MHS Sports Report – 12/14/15

The Boys Basketball had a big win over Speedway this past Saturday.  The Pioneers were led by KC Earls with 33 points in route to a 80-38 win.  The team is now 3-2 on the season.  The Pioneers will open up Mid-State Conference play this Friday at home when they play Decatur Central.  That game is scheduled for a 7:30pm start.  Then on Saturday, the Pioneers will travel to Edgewood.

The Girls Basketball team won three games this week.  On Tuesday, the beat Avon 54-31.  On Wednesday, the Lady Pioneers hosted Northview for a makeup game that was earlier in the season.  The Pioneers won that game 58-31.  Unfortunately that night, Lauren McBryar was injured and will be out for the season.  On Saturday, the Lady Pioneers traveled to Greenwood in another tough conference match-up.  That day they were led by Morgan Matt with 13 points as the Pioneers won the game 61-47.  This week the Pioneers will only play one game against Decatur Central.  The varsity game will be Friday night starting at 6:00pm.  This will be part of a Boy/Girls Doubleheader that night and it will also be our Coaches vs Cancer game.

The Wrestling Team hosted Franklin on Tuesday in a big wrestling event.  That night, elementary matches were wrestled at 5:30pm to start the night.  Then at 6:30pm, we had three mats going with Varsity, JV and middle school teams competing.  It was a great atmosphere.  Unfortunately the Pioneers lost the dual meet 15-51.  On Saturday, they traveled to Zionsville in an 8-team tournament.  The Pioneers finished 6th and were led by Spencer Cox (2nd place), Ethan Wymer (4th), Michael Atkinson (4th) and Wes Kost (4th).  This Saturday, the varsity will be traveling to New Haven for a dual meet tournament starting at 9am.  They will be wrestling 4 teams in their pool and 1 crossover match that day.

The Boys/Girls Swimming and Diving did not have any meets this past week but did have a great week of practice.  On Tuesday, they will travel to Martinsville for a conference match.  That meet will start at 5:30pm.  They will then begin to gear up for their swim invitational that will be held on December 29th.

Here is the list of all the events for this week.  Week of December 14
