MHS Sports Report – 3/7/16
The Winter Season has officially came to a close and now the Spring Season will start to pick up.
The Boys Basketball lost in their first round of Sectionals this past Tuesday. After being down double digits most of the game, the Pioneers battled back to take a 1-point lead with 7 seconds to go. Unfortunately Terre Haute South hit a fade-away 3-point at the buzzer to beat the Pioneers. It was a great effort to comeback in the 4th but they fell a little short. With the loss, their season has come to a close. Thank you to the seniors for all of their contributions to MHS Basketball.
With the completion of all the winter sports, we will recognize all of the teams at the banquet. That event is set for Tuesday, March 15th.
The Boys/Girls Track Teams competed at their first UIndy Indoor Meet. The Pioneers competed well in the event. Chance Justus finished 4th in the Shot Put, Alex Fabert was 10th in high jump and many other Pioneers set personal records. For the girls, the Lady Pioneers had a great night. Julia LeBlanc finished 5th in 60m dash, the 4×200 Relay team finished 7th, 4×800 Relay team and Distance Medley Team finished 3rd and Abby Karnes finished 7th in Pole Vault. Both teams will be back in action this Tuesday at UIndy.
The Softball team will open up their season today. Tryouts will begin directly after school that day.
The remaining Spring Sports will open up next Monday.
Here is a schedule for the events for the week. Week of March 7
