The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill from Edward Jones to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week.
Athlete of the Week – Girls Softball – Gabby O’Riley, Senior
In 5 games, Gabby has been a huge contributor at the plate to help the Pioneers overcome a couple deficits over the past couple of weeks. In 18 plate appearances and 12 at bats, she has 3 singles, 2 doubles, and 2 homeruns with 9 RBIs. She is hitting .583 on the season. She continues to be a force not only at the plate but behind the plate as well. She is one of the most difficult outs and is an intimidating factor when it comes to baserunners trying to steal on her. She is an amazing player and definitely deserving of AOW.
Athlete of the Week – Boys Baseball – Andrew Coughlan, Sophomore
Andrew had a big week for the Pioneers helping them to a 3-0 start. For the week Coughlan had a .692 AVG and collected 5 2Bs, 1 3B, 6 RBIs, scored 4 runs and had a Slugging Percentage of 1.231. He also picked up the win on the mound in the 2nd conference game against Greenwood. For that game, he threw 4.0 innings giving up 1 earned run while striking out 7 batters.
