The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Edward Jones Athlete of the Week Award for the week of December 10th – December 15th of 2018. The award this will be given to one female and one male student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Edward Jones is a proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill from Edward Jones to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week.
Athlete of the Week – Girls Diving – Sadie Mills, Junior
Sadie has come in to the season on fire after an off season of training up to 20 hrs per week. She puts in the time and is dedicated to this sport. Sadie has many college coaches already checking her out and communicating with her in attempt to recruit her. She has been able to break her own school record 3 out of 4 attempts already this year. Twice with her 6 dive record and breaking her 11 dive record by almost 70 pts and qualifying for NISCA All America Diving Award. Sadie has the drive and motivation to take her diving to the next level. She hopes to return to the state Championship meet this year and find a spot on tip the podium stand!
Athlete of the Week – Wrestler – Robbie Gentry, Junior
Robbie won the Jeffersonville Holiday Classic on Saturday. He was the number 3 seed and had to battle through a tough bottom half of the bracket winning by FF, 3-1 decision and 3-1 decision. He then battled in the finals against a tough Jeffersonville wrestler and prevailed 5-1. Robbie has emerged as a leader in our room and is pushed daily by the amount of athletes around his weight class. He now has a season record of 12-1.
