Edward Jones Athlete of the Week

January 20th  – January 25th          

 

The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Edward Jones Athlete of the Week Award for the week of January 20th  – January 25th of 2020.  The award will be given to one female and one male student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Edward Jones is a proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department.  The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill from Edward Jones to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week. 

 

 

Athlete of the Week – Girls Varsity Basketball – Abby Young, Sophomore

 

Abby Young scored 12 pts. and grabbed 6 rebounds in the Lady Pioneers 59-32 victory over Plainfield.  Young is a hard worker who continues to improve her game on both the defensive and offensive ends of the floor.

 

Athlete of the Week – Boys Varsity Basketball – Luke Fowler, Junior

 

In the 45-42 overtime win over Mid-State Conference rival Plainfield Luke had 13 pts. on 6-10 shooting from the field.  Luke had 6 rebounds and a team-high 5 assists.  Luke also had 1 steal.  Luke continues to be a steady force on both ends of the floor.  He was instrumental in our Homecoming win over 4A 13th ranked Plainfield.

 

 

Athlete of the Week – Boys Varsity Swimming – Devin Berryman, Junior

 

Devin qualified for the Regional Championships for the past two years. This season Devin has recorded 4 first place finishes in dual meets along with a top 2 Mooresville invitational, top 3 Pioneer Invite finish to also help Mooresville take home the boys team championship making that a 4 year undefeated run. Devin shows up and demonstrates high levels of determination to reach his goals. He is the 2020 Mid State Conference Champion.
