Athlete of the Week – Girls Softball – Alex Cooper, Sophomore

In the first 10 games of the season, Alex has been dominant on the mound and at the plate.  She is leading the team in batting.  Alex is 21 for 33 for an average of .636.  She has 6 doubles, 1 triple and 3 homeruns.  She is also 7 for 7 on stolen bases.  Alex is also 8-0 on the mound with 66 strikeouts.  Her ERA is 2.30.  She is a complete player and I expect to see her perform at an even higher level throughout the season.

Madelynn broke the school record in the 100 meter dash, posting a time of 12.45. She also ran the second leg on a relay that posted the 4th fastest time in school history.

Christopher just started pole vault this year, but he cleared 11-0 feet at the Edgewood meet, putting him on our top 20 list in MHS history.

Athlete of the Week – Boys Baseball – Tommy O,Connor, Senior

Tommy is currently hitting .455 with 6 HR, 17 RBI and 8 runs scored. On the mound he has a 2-0 record. Tommy has 10.0 innings pitched.  He has 16 K’s and a 1.40 ERA.  Tommy is off to an excellent start to the baseball season. His numbers are fantastic, but his leadership on and off the diamond have been tremendous.
