The Freshman Pioneers came away with a huge victory over the Bloomington South Panthers. From tip-to-finish, it was a close, hard-fought battle between two great teams. The Pioneers were in a tug-of-war match-up, where neither team reached a double-digit lead. Down the stretch, the Pioneers finished the game with level-heads, taking care of the basketball, and hitting their free-throws. James Bolton threw a sharp outlet pass to Jaxson Nielsen for the game-sealing layup.
The leading scorer for the Pioneers was Wes Reeves with 11 points. Reeves also contributed 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals. In addition to Reeves, Jaxson Nielsen and Jayden Enderle added 9 points each. Enderle added 3 steals, and lock-down defense against Bloomington South’s leading scorer. Gavin Rogers added 5 points, and James Bolton added 4 points to go along with 3 assists.
Although he didn’t register a point, Ethan Schrader impacted the game by providing a steady presence on the defensive end, and excellent ball-handling during pressure moments.
