The Mooresville Pioneers Football Team collected their fourth win of the 2020 season with a 41-13 over the Greenwood Woodmen on Senior Night at Mooresville High School. The Greenwood Woodmen received the opening kickoff and went 3 and out on it’s first possession punting the ball to the Pioneers. Mooresville would start their first drive of the game on the Greenwood 44 yard line and would waste little time getting on the score board as Nick Patterson hit Malachi Warren on play one for a 44 yard score (PAT- Brock Bodell) putting the Pioneers up 7-0.

The Pioneers would continue the scoring with Patterson throwing his second touchdown of the evening to Johnny Clampitt from 18 yards out (PAT- Bodell) to give Mooresville a 14 point lead mid way through the first quarter. Greenwood would be forced to punt on it’s next possession but the punt would be blocked and recovered by Mooresville’s Luke Fowler giving the ball to the Pioneers on the Woodmen 14 yard line.

Two plays later Pioneers safety Tim Casper would intercept the Greenwood pass and give the ball back to the Mooresville offense on the Greenwood 49 yard line.

The Pioneers were unable to capitolize on the Casper interception as the Greenwood defense would intercept a Nick Patterson pass and take over on their own 5 yard line. The Woodmen were unable to move the ball deep in their own territory, facing a fourth and three the Woodmen would take a gamble and go for the first down. The Pioneer defense would rise to the occassion and stuff Greenwood, taking over on downs on the Woodmen 25 yard line.

The Pioneers were unable to take advantage of the field position, turning the ball over for the second time in the first half as a Nick Patterson pass would deflect off the hand of Tim Casper and would end up in the hands of a Greenwood defender. The Woodmen offense would stall and would turn the ball over on downs to the Pioneers on the Greenwood 32 yard line.
