It was a busy Saturday for the Pioneer girl divers. Sadie Mills, Kayla Gott and
Kylie Strietelmeier swept the 5th Annual Pioneer Dive Invitational taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Sadie Mills had a double win for the day taking 1st place but also setting a new high school record for 11 dives with a score of 495.55.
In addition to setting a school record and taking 1st, Sadie Mills also took home the award for Best Dive. Sadie scored 62.4 points for her 105B Forward 2½ Somersaults Pike.
Kylie Stretelmeier who took 3rd on the day proved her mental toughness performing all day after hitting her ankle earlier in the day during practice. She fought through her injury through the 11 dive series holding off the 4th place finisher by 41 points. For Kylie’s outstanding perseverance she was awarded the well deserved Mental Attitude Award.
Sophomore Kayla Gott had an outstanding day as well. Kayla hit a huge milestone of breaking the 400 point mark finishing the day with 410.15 points. That score was not only a personal record but was high enough to win 2nd place in the Invitational over a talented pool of divers from 5 other schools.
The outstanding performance from the girls is a great precursor to Sectionals and Regionals coming up next month.
