The Lady Pioneers JV traveled a couple miles to the north tonight to play Mid-State Conference rival Plainfield Lady Quakers. The Lady Pioneers were coming off a great win at home against Lawrence North on Tuesday night and looked to extend their winning streak to four games.
The Lady Quakers came out hot in the first quarter and jumped out to a 13-3 lead. Despite the 10 point deficit in the first quarter, the Pioneers played hard for the rest of the game and found ways to cut the Quakers lead down to 5 twice in the second half. With just under 3:00 in the fourth quarter, the Lady Pioneers had pulled the game back to 5 points but just couldn’t get the game any closer. Even though the tough Pioneers defense held the Lady Quakers to only score four baskets in the second half, the Quakers went 13-25 from the free throw line. Freshman Kaitlyn Strietelmeier led the team in scoring with 11 points in the Pioneers defeat. The JV team’s record now stands at 10-8 for the 2020-2021 season. The team’s next game will be Tuesday night against Terre Haute South. The Girls JV game will start at 6:00.
