The Girls Swimming and Diving Team broke school records and had 19 personal best times to win a commanding 2nd place in the Mooresville Swim Invitational. Freshman Cora ‘Joker’ Winegarden broke the 100 free record previously set by Ayris Mitchell last year. Cora’s time of 59.22 was fast enough to break the record and just five tenths of a second behind first place. Cora is also just two tenths of a second away from breaking the record in the 50 free as well. Emily Bombei also swam her fastest 100 free ever at 1:00.82. Sydney Gercak killed it in the 100 fly dropping 2.27 seconds and 2.57 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley and another 1.37 seconds in the 100 breast; 3 events, 3 personal bests! Maddie Morris swam a personal best in the 50 free. Freshman Morgan Pierson crushed the 500 free and dropped 4.17 seconds for an all time best. Alli Tabscott dropped almost 2 seconds for a personal best in the 100 fly while her sister Linzy Tabscott swam 1.5 seconds faster for a personal best in the 100 back. Sadie Mills was absolutely outstanding in the 1 meter diving taking 1st place with a score of 446.91. Kylie Stretelmeier captured 3rd with a final score of 366.76.
