The Lady Pioneer Track & Field team made their 2018 season debut at the Hoosier State Relay Qualifier at University of Indianapolis hosted by Whiteland High School. Senior Jordyn Dinwiddie started her night with a 10th place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 8.45 seconds. Freshman Katirena Freitag also competed in the event, placing 29th in 8.99 seconds. Rounding out our individual running events was senior Savanna Mills in the 3200m run. She opened her season with a 10th place finish in 12:49. In the 4x200m relay Katirena Freitag, Elise Scaggs, Hannah McElhaney, and Alyssa Phipps battled it out for a 12th place finish in a time of 2:02.75. In the 4x400m relay Elly Head, Jordyn Dinwiddie, Olivia Brimmage, and Emily Bombei won their heat and finished 6th overall in a time of 4:32.23. In field events, sophomore Emily Bombei competed in long jump with a best jump of 12’11”, earning 15th place. Junior Elise Scaggs advanced to finals in shot put where she placed 8th with a mark of 32’9″. Junior Alex Sanders also competed in the event, placing 11th with a mark of 31’7″. In pole vault, senior Abby Karnes vaulted very well, placing 3rd clearing 9’3″. Junior Arabella Short also started her season, clearing 7′ to earn 15th place. The team started the season very well and our athletes are hungry to improve!
