Friday evening saw the Beech Grove Hornets visit the Mooresville Pioneers for game three of the 2021 Indiana High School Baseball season. Mooresville got out to a 3 run lead in the first inning and were able to extend the to 4 in the third and sealed the win with a 12 run fourth.
Senior Caden Bradley started Friday nights ball game on the mound for the Pioneers going 4 innings. Bradley gave up 2 hits while striking out 7 Hornet hitters surrendering zero walks and no runs. Senior Blake Nigg closed out the game in the 5th inning for the Pioneers allowing zero runs on one walk.
Offensively the Pioneers produced 16 runs on 13 hits. Dane Stevenson and Nolan Bond lead the club with 3 hits a piece. The Pioneers added 3 home runs brining their season total to 8, Tommy O’Connor hit 2 (3) while Hogan Denny hit his first of the year.
The Mooresville Pioneers will have the weekend off and will hit the field Monday in preparation a big week of Mid State Conference action. The Pioneers will travel to Decatur Central on Tuesday April 13th to take on the Hawks. Decatur Central will make the trip south on Wednesday and will play at Mooresville to cap off the home and home Mid State Conference matchup.
The Pioneers will wrap up play for the week on Friday April 16th traveling to Monrovia to take on the Bulldogs, first pitch is to be thrown at 5:00pm.
