The Mooresville Lady Pioneers battled on Thursday night but ultimately fell to Cathedral, 55–32. After struggling to generate offense early, Mooresville showed resilience with a strong fourth-quarter surge, outscoring Cathedral 13–8, but the first-half deficit proved too large to overcome. Cathedral opened the game with back-to-back 15-point quarters, taking a 30–10 lead into halftime. Mooresville responded with more consistent scoring after the break, putting up 9 in the third and finishing with their best offensive frame in the fourth. Halle Moore led the Pioneers with an impressive 14 points, knocking down four 2-point field goals and going 6-of-10 from the free-throw line. Millie Allison added 5 points, including a made three and a perfect 2-for-2 at the line. Kendal Price and Makenzie Holtzclaw each chipped in 4 points, both contributing a basket and key free throws. Madisyn Phillips scored 2 points, while K.J. Barton added 2—all from the free-throw line. Kenzie Garrett rounded out Mooresville’s scoring with 1 point at the stripe. Despite the loss, the Pioneers’ strong fourth-quarter performance showed their potential, and the team is expecting that positive energy to carry into the next matchup. The late-game intensity, improved ball movement, and defensive pressure give Mooresville something to build on as they continue working toward a more complete four-quarter performance. Mooresville will return home to take on Danville, with JV tipping off at 6:00 PM and varsity at 7:30 PM. The team looks forward to bringing that momentum into their home gym and delivering a more consistent effort from start to finish.
