Mooresville Opens Season With Strong Performances in Home Opener Against Brebeuf Jesuit. Mooresville, IN — The Mooresville High School girls’ swim team kicked off their 2025–26 season on their home deck Thursday night, delivering an impressive set of early-season swims despite a 102–74 loss to visiting Brebeuf Jesuit. Led by senior captain Lylah Theriac and junior captain Morgan Gainey, the Pioneers showcased depth, leadership, and major time drops—highlighting a team poised for a strong year. Mooresville set the tone early in the 200 Medley Relay, where the A-relay stormed to victory in 2:01.62. Junior Danielle Gilman opened with a crisp 34.18 backstroke split, senior captain Lylah Theriac exploded through a 29.59 breaststroke, junior Morgan Gainey held strong with a 29.70 butterfly leg, and freshman Keelan Chappell delivered a powerful 28.15 freestyle anchor to seal the win. The B-relay added additional points with a 3rd-place finish behind junior Annabelle Mong, freshman Isabella Henson, junior Aleah Marine, and freshman Grace Perry. In individual events, Mooresville’s athletes showed both promise and toughness. Freshman Reese Aker and junior Grace Perry earned valuable points in the 200 Free, finishing 4th and 5th, while freshman Natallia Davis and junior Mong displayed endurance in the 500 Free, taking 4th and 5th respectively. One of the night’s biggest highlights came in the 200 Individual Medley, where junior captain Morgan Gainey opened her season with a massive 9.33-second drop, swimming 2:32.67—her fastest IM performance by far. Freshman Chappell followed in 4th with a strong 2:36.93. Senior captain Lylah Theriac had a dominant night, securing two individual victories. She blasted a 55.99 in the 100 Butterfly, then backed it up with a commanding win in the 100 Backstroke at 58.58, both marking elite early-season speed. The Pioneers delivered another big moment in the 200 Freestyle Relay, taking first place in 1:46.72. Theriac (24.36), Gainey (27.05), Chappell (28.44), and Marine (26.87) combined for a statement win in front of a loud home crowd. In the sprint and middle-distance events, Mooresville continued to earn key points: Aleah Marine, junior — 3rd in the 50 Free (27.65) and 3rd in the 100 Free (1:03.94) Isabella Henson, freshman — 4th in the 100 Free (1:09.99) and 5th in the 100 Breast Danielle Gilman, junior — 4th in the 100 Fly and 4th in the 100 Back Grace Perry, freshman — 5th in the 100 Back On the diving board, junior Mackenzie Pierson delivered one of Mooresville’s most decisive victories of the evening, scoring 215.60 to win the 1-meter event and energize the home crowd. Mooresville closed out their opener with a strong 2nd-place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay, where freshmen Aker and Henson teamed with juniors Gilman and Davis to finish in 4:47.01. Although Brebeuf took the overall meet, the Pioneers' performance—full of major time drops, breakout freshmen, and leadership from their captains—signals a program trending upward from day one. With Theriac and Gainey setting the standard and a large young core contributing across all events, Mooresville’s season is off to a promising start.
