Pioneers and Cardinals Battle In Matinee Showdown

The Mooresville Pioneers fell to Southport on Tuesday night, 72–64, in a competitive matchup that featured strong offensive performances from both teams. Mooresville posted quarter scores of 15-17-13-19, staying within striking distance throughout the game. The Pioneers shot 43% from the field, matching that mark from both two-point and three-point range. Mooresville also moved the ball effectively, assisting on 12 of their 21 made field goals while committing only 10 turnovers. Southport countered with efficient shooting of its own, finishing at 52% from the floor, including 55% on two-pointers and 43% from beyond the arc. The Cardinals’ biggest advantage came on the boards, where they outrebounded Mooresville 34–15, creating valuable second-chance opportunities. Despite a strong fourth-quarter effort from the Pioneers, Southport’s early lead and rebounding edge helped secure the victory.
