The Mooresville Girls JV basketball team took back to the court on Friday, December 5th after a week and a half break from their pre-Thanksgiving game against Martinsville. The Pioneers were scheduled to play Terre Haute North earlier in the week but a winter storm pushed the game back to December 22nd. With the return to the court, the JV team picked back up their Mid-State conference schedule when they traveled to Perry Meridian to play the Lady Falcons JV team. The outcome of this JV game has favored the Lady Pioneers recently but the Lady Falcons have played the Pioneers better every game. The Lady Pioneers enter tonight’s game with a record of 4-3. Last season, the Lady Pioneers won the game 52-14. After watching the Girls Varsity game, the Lady Pioneers came out with good team energy and strong confidence that helped them jump out to a 10-5 lead over the Lady Falcons by the end of the first quarter. As the Lady Pioneers worked through their bench for the second and third quarters, the intensity and pace of play dropped very little. The Pioneers held a strong 22-12lead at the half and used the third quarter to expand their lead up to 15 point lead by the end of the period. The last quarter played quickly as both teams made sure that plenty of playing time was distributed among the players. The final score of the game read: Mooresville 48 and Perry Meridian 19. The 48-19 victory for the Lady Pioneers improves the team’s record to 5-3 on the season. Leading the JV team in scoring was Esther Brimmage with 11 points. The Lady Falcons JV team will get some time off the court as the Varsity team participates in the Marion County tourney next week. The Lady Pioneers JV team will take a small break before they play their next game against the Lady Cadets of Cascade High School.
