Against a powerhouse field led by Zionsville, Chesterton, and Center Grove, the Pioneers placed 7th and scored 149 points, finishing ahead of several storied programs and walking away with new school records, major personal bests, and gritty milestone swims. The meet opened with a breakthrough moment: Mooresville’s first-ever 400-yard Medley Relay. The quartet of Junior Danielle Gilman (1:13.47 backstroke), Freshman Keelan Chappell (1:19.37 breaststroke), Senior Captain Lylah Theriac (55.12 butterfly), and Junior Captain Morgan Gainey (58.87 freestyle) powered to 9th place in 4:26.83, instantly establishing a new school record. Annabelle Mong set the tone and the record for the 1000-yard Freestyle, completing the race with a time of 16.25.61. Junior Captain Morgan Gainey followed in the next heat to set the bar even higher with a 10th-place finish and further bringing down the record to a 12:04.65. In true fashion, Senior Captain Lylah Theriac continues to rewrite the record books this time in the 100-yard Individual Medley, winning in 57.07—a new school record and only 0.15 seconds off the meet record. Theriac returned later in the day with a stunning performance in the 400-yard Individual Medley, winning in 4:25.93—a school record, a 1.21-second personal best, only 1.79 seconds shy of the Hall of Fame Classic meet record, and over 11 seconds faster than the next competitor. She also captured the 50-yard Freestyle title in 24.01, just 0.23 from the meet record, further cementing her status as one of Indiana’s top all-around swimmers. Freshman Isabella Henson continued her rapid improvement, posting a 0.72 PR in the 100 IM (1:24.15). Junior Danielle Gilman dropped time in the 200 Free (2:17.46), and Junior Aleah Marine had one of the biggest drops of the day, slashing 6.39 seconds in the 50 Butterfly to finish in 30.79. In the 200 Backstroke, Sophomore Grace Perry completed the race for the first time, setting a new school record in 2:58.28 and earning team praise for her competitiveness. The Pioneers made history again with their first-ever Mixed 500 Freestyle Relay, placing 3rd in 3:52.34 with a 10-person lineup of sprinters: Lylah Theriac, Grant Fox, Danielle Gilman, Diesel Molin, Keelan Chappell, Jacob Gainey, Morgan Gainey, DJ Enkhorn, Aleah Marine, and Brady Aker. Each sprinter had to swim 25 yards at a time, twice. In the 200 Butterfly, another new event for Mooresville standards, Captain Morgan Gainey set the school record with a 2:51.96 for 16th place. Teammates Aleah Marine (3:30.89) and Grace Perry (4:05.89) also finished the demanding race—an accomplishment that drew recognition from the coaching staff for toughness and discipline. Two Mooresville relay squads competed in the 200 Freestyle Relay, placing 9th (1:51.75) and 13th (1:55.98) with strong splits across the board. Freshman Keelan Chappell wasn't able to score points, but captured the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 3:02.76. The meet closed with the 400 Freestyle Relay, where the team of Annabelle Mong, Natallia Davis, Isabella Henson, and Reese Aker clocked 4:59.28, rounding out an already impressive day. The Pioneers added major points on the boards, with Junior Mackenzie Pierson delivering a clutch, high-pressure performance to finish 3rd overall with 367.85 points in the 1-Meter finals. With multiple school records, top-tier performances, and a deep roster contributing across all disciplines, the Mooresville Pioneers proved they are quickly becoming a force at one of Indiana’s marquee early-season meets. Led by veteran captains and energized by a powerful freshman class, Mooresville is building momentum toward what could become a historic championship season.
