Mooresville Boys Make History with Multiple School Records at the IHSAA Hall of Fame Classic

Though younger and smaller in roster size than many of the powerhouse programs present, Mooresville delivered a breakthrough day highlighted by numerous school records, huge time drops, and several first-ever attempts at championship-level events. Mooresville kicked off the meet by swimming its first-ever 400-yard Medley Relay, instantly setting a school record. The team of Senior Captain Diesel Molin (54.34 backstroke), Sophomore Abram Haack (1:11.28 breaststroke), Sophomore Brady Aker (1:00.70 butterfly), and Senior Captain DJ Enkhorn (52.27 freestyle) stopped the clock in 3:58.59, earning 12th place and setting the tone for the program’s record-breaking day. The Pioneers continued rewriting the record book in the 1000-yard Freestyle, another event swam for the first time in school history. Senior Jacob Gainey claimed the inaugural school record with a 14th-place finish in 12:08.38, while Senior Captain DJ Enkhorn tackled the event for the first time as well, finishing in 12.22.08. In the 100-yard Individual Medley, Sophomore Brady Aker powered to 15th place in 1:01.83, setting a new school record. Junior Grant Fox added to the momentum with a huge 7.13-second PR (1:04.25), showing Mooresville’s depth of improvement even outside the scoring heats. One of the biggest swims of the meet came from Senior Captain Diesel Molin, who blazed to 2nd place in the 200 Freestyle with a 1:47.94—destroying the previous school record by 3.92 seconds and establishing himself as one of the top mid-distance swimmers in the field. Freshman Issac Enkhorn completed his first-ever 200 Free in 3:11.87, marking a key milestone in his debut high school season. Sophomore John Patterson (27.71) and Sophomore Abram Haack (30.05) both posted personal bests in the 50 Butterfly, with Patterson dropping an incredible 13.94 seconds. In the first-ever 200 Backstroke for the school, Senior Captain DJ Enkhorn earned 16th place in 2:21.31, establishing another school record. Freshmen sprinters made noise in the 50 Freestyle, where Charlie Dixon (26.60) and Charlie Cook (28.87) both posted major PRs before the AM session concluded. Mooresville then joined the girls for the program’s first-ever Mixed 50 Freestyle Relay, placing 3rd in 3:52.34, a performance showcasing the combined speed and versatility across both teams. The relay featured Lylah Theriac, Grant Fox, Danielle Gilman, Diesel Molin, Keelan Chappell, Jacob Gainey, Morgan Gainey, DJ Enkhorn, Aleah Marine, and Brady Aker. Another major highlight came in the 400 Individual Medley, a grueling event swam for the first time in school history. Sophomore Brady Aker delivered a gutsy 4:48.93, placing 14th and setting a new program standard. Junior Grant Fox also completed the race admirably in 5:33.33, earning praise for finishing one of the toughest events in high school swimming. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Mooresville placed 10th in 1:39.77, powered by strong splits from DJ Enkhorn (24.67), Jacob Gainey (23.77), John Patterson (25.23), and Charlie Dixon (26.10). Molin returned to the pool for another historic swim in the 200 Butterfly, finishing 13th in 2:16.21 and claiming yet another school record, while Patterson added a strong finishing effort in 2:31.37. Freshmen Dixon and Cook continued their improvement curve in the 50 Backstroke, posting PRs of 35.88 and 38.28, respectively. In the first-ever 200 Breaststroke, Sophomore Abram Haack placed 16th in 2:46.16, establishing another school record. Mooresville closed its meet with a powerful showing in the 400 Freestyle Relay, earning 8th place in 3:32.54 behind strong legs from Brady Aker (55.94), Diesel Molin (47.77), Grant Fox (54.37), and Jacob Gainey (54.46)—a fitting finish to a historic day. With six new school records, numerous first-time completions of high-level championship events, and significant time drops across every class year, the Mooresville Pioneers boys have proven that their program is rapidly gaining momentum. Led by seniors and energized by underclassmen who are improving at a remarkable pace, Mooresville’s performance at the IHSAA Hall of Fame Classic sets the stage for a breakthrough season ahead.
