Pioneers Outduel Cadets on the Road, 71–65 The Mooresville Pioneers earned a hard-fought road victory Friday night, outlasting the Cascade Cadets 71–65 in a competitive non-conference matchup. Mooresville set the tone early, jumping out to a fast start behind Chris Thompson-Moore, who poured in 13 of his game-high 28 points in the opening quarter to give the Pioneers a 23–15 lead. Cascade responded in the second quarter, catching fire from beyond the arc with five three-pointers to even the game and take a 38–37 edge into halftime. The Pioneers regained momentum coming out of the locker room as Silas Smith took control in the third quarter, scoring 12 of his 18 points to fuel a 23-point frame and swing the lead back in Mooresville’s favor. Both teams tightened up defensively in the fourth quarter, with scoring at a premium as the game turned into a physical slugfest. The Pioneers made just enough plays down the stretch to secure the win. Thompson-Moore led all scorers with 28 points on 11 made field goals, adding a strong performance at the free-throw line by converting 5-of-6 attempts. Smith finished with 18 points on seven field goals, while freshman Colton Briede provided a spark off the bench with 12 points. With the road win, the Pioneers continue to build momentum as they move forward in the season. The Pioneers are back in action on Friday as they host SR-67 rival, Decatur Central in a boy/girl double header.
