After a couple days of snow delays gave the team time away from the basketball court, the Lady Pioneers JV team returned to their Mid-State Conference schedule by traveling to Greenwood tonight. The Lady Pioneers Girls JV basketball team had not played a game in over 10 days and getting back on the court against a familiar opponent made the return a bit easier. The Lady Woodmen basketball teams are going through some big changes. The team has dropped down to the 3A classification for the IHSAA basketball tournament and the Woodmen will also be changing conferences next season. The Woodmen will be joining the Hoosier Legends Conference along with Beech Grove, Indian Creek, Monrovia, Shelbyville, Speedway, and Tri-West. The Lady Pioneers come into the JV game with a record of 5-3 on the season. Last season, the Lady Pioneers won the game 48-32. The Lady Pioneers came out strong and dominated the tempo of the whole game and held the Lady Woodmen to no baskets for the game. After the running clock started in the second half, the game quickly ended with the Lady Pioneers cruising to victory. The 65-1 victory for the Lady Pioneers improves the team’s record to 6-3 on the season. Leading the JV team in scoring was Bri Addair with 29 points. The Lady Woodmen JV team will return immediately to the court tomorrow night as they host the Park Tudor Lady Panthers. The Lady Pioneers JV team moves ahead and gets ready for another MId-State rivalry game against the Lady Hawks from Decatur Central on Friday, December 19th.The Varsity Boy/Girl doubleheader bumps the Junior Varsity start time to around 7:30 p.m. in the Pavilion.
