Pioneers Control Martinsville With Balanced Team Effort, 97–74

The Mooresville Pioneers put together a confident and well-rounded performance Tuesday night, defeating Martinsville 97–74 behind event wins across the board, major personal-best swims, and strong leadership from the senior class. From the opening relay through the final freestyle relay, Mooresville consistently outperformed Martinsville with depth, speed, and poise. Mooresville set the tone early in the 200-yard Medley Relay, where the senior-led A relay stormed to 1st place in 1:48.36. Sophomore Brady Aker opened the race on backstroke, followed by Jacob Gainey on breaststroke, senior captain Diesel Molin on butterfly, and senior captain DJ Enkhorn anchoring on freestyle. The win gave the Pioneers immediate momentum. A younger B relay also contributed with a 3rd-place finish, gaining valuable varsity experience. The Pioneers continued to build their lead in the 200-yard Freestyle, sweeping the top three places. Senior Jacob Gainey captured 1st in 2:06.43, while sophomore John Patterson delivered one of the biggest drops of the night, cutting nearly eight seconds to take 2nd. Freshman Issac Enkhorn added a 3rd-place finish, highlighting the program’s developing depth. Senior captain Diesel Molin showcased his versatility in the 200-yard Individual Medley, cruising to 1st place in 2:05.32. Freshman Chuck Dixon gained valuable experience in his first IM at the varsity level, finishing 4th. Speed and depth were on full display in the 50-yard Freestyle, where Mooresville swept the podium. Gainey touched 1st with a new personal best, followed closely by Brady Aker and Abram Haack, who also posted best times. Brady Aker followed that performance with another standout swim in the 100-yard Butterfly, winning in 59.03 for a new personal best. Dixon returned to score points with a 4th-place finish. In the 100-yard Freestyle, junior Grant Fox secured 1st place, while Enkhorn continued his steady improvement with a 3rd-place finish. One of the most impressive performances of the night came in the 500-yard Freestyle, where Molin dominated the field, winning in 5:11.05, finishing just two seconds shy of his own school record. Senior captain DJ Enkhorn backed him up with a strong 2nd-place finish, and freshman Chuck Cook added depth with a 4th-place swim. Mooresville’s younger swimmers, Sophomore John Patterson, Junior Grant Fox, Freshman Chuck Dixon, and Freshman Chuck Cook, gained valuable experience in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, placing 2nd behind a strong Martinsville squad. The 100-yard Backstroke saw continued improvement from Patterson and Haack, both posting personal bests in 3rd and 4th place, respectively. In the 100-yard Breaststroke, senior captain DJ Enkhorn and Fox delivered back-to-back personal bests to place 2nd and 3rd. The meet concluded with a decisive win in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, as Brady Aker, Jacob Gainey, Diesel Molin, and DJ Enkhorn combined for a season-best 3:35.59, sealing the team victory. A second relay featuring underclassmen Junior Grant Fox, Freshman Chuck Cook, Sophomore Abram Haack, and Issac Enkhorn rounded out the night, gaining valuable experience in a pressure situation. With strong senior leadership, consistent improvement from underclassmen, and depth across all event groups, the Pioneers continue to show growth and confidence as the season progresses. Tuesday’s win over Martinsville reinforced that Mooresville is building something sustainable—and dangerous—as championship season approaches.
