MOORESVILLE GIRLS JV BASKETBALL WRITE-UP The Lady Pioneers JV team hosted the Lady Hawks from Decatur Central tonight for their fourth Mid-State Conference game in a row. The Lady Pioneers are 6-3 on the season to date and 3-0 in the Mid-State conference JV play. The JV game tonight is part of five boys and girls games between the two schools played tonight within the Curry Center and the Pioneer Pavilion. Last season, the Lady Hawks and Lady Pioneers JV teams had to cancel their scheduled game when an attempted dunk during the JV Boys game dislodged the rim from the backboard and the rim wasn’t able to be repaired in time to complete the JV girls game. The Pioneers did defeat the Lady Hawks back in 2023, 48-16. The Lady Pioneers JV jumped out to another strong first half lead at 17-0. The second half dominance was not as clear for the Lady Pioneers as turnovers, fouls, and the pace of the game disrupted the offensive and defensive flow of the team. The Lady Pioneers were outscored 10-4 in the third quarter by Decatur Central. But the Pioneers regained the pace and flow of the game to outscore the Lady Hawks 16-5 in the fourth quarter for a 37-15 win for the team. The 37-15 victory for the Lady Pioneers improves the team’s record to 7-3on the season. Leading the JV team in scoring Kenzie Garrett and Kaydence Straneva with 8 points each. Bri Addair added 7 points in the victory. The Lady Hawks JV team will return to the court next Tuesday night as they host the East Central Lady Trojan.
