Mooresville Edges Highland in Thrilling 52–51 Victory

Mooresville earned an exciting one-point victory over Highland, finishing strong for a 52–51 win in a hard-fought and energetic contest. The Pioneers set the tone early with an impressive first quarter, jumping out to a 15–6 lead behind aggressive offense and solid defense. Mooresville continued to build momentum in the second quarter, adding 11 points to take a comfortable lead into halftime. Highland responded in the second half, but Mooresville stayed composed. The Pioneers scored 14 points in the third quarter, matching Highland’s intensity and keeping control of the game heading into the final period. In the fourth quarter, Highland made a strong push with 22 points, turning the game into a nail-biter, but Mooresville’s early lead and clutch execution proved to be the difference. Halle Moore led all scorers with a standout performance, finishing with 20 points. She was especially strong at the free-throw line, converting 10 of 11 attempts, and consistently created scoring opportunities inside. Makenzie Holtzclaw and K.J. Barton each added nine points, with Holtzclaw knocking down two three-pointers and Barton contributing from beyond the arc as well. Additional contributions came from Madisyn Phillips with four points, Millie Allison with four points and key free throws, Niah Craig with four points, and Kenzie Garrett with two. Every player played an important role, whether on the scoreboard, on defense, or through hustle and teamwork. Mooresville’s balanced scoring, strong start, and composure under pressure helped secure the close victory. The thrilling finish showcased the team’s determination and ability to rise to the moment, making it a memorable win for the Pioneers.
