Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week January 5th – January 10th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week Award for the week of January 5th – January 10th. The award will be given to one female and one male student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week. Athlete of the Week – Girls Swimming – Lylah Theriac, Senior Senior captain Lylah Theriac delivered one of the most dominant championship performances in Mooresville High School history, establishing herself as one of the top high school swimmers in the nation. At the championship meet, Theriac captured first place in both the 200-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Butterfly, breaking both the school and meet records in each event. Both performances also qualified for All-American honors, placing her among the Top 100 swimmers nationally. Theriac’s impact extended far beyond individual victories. She was an integral part of the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, helping both teams place 3rd overall while breaking school records in both events. Her lead-off performances were exceptional: • Her 50-yard Freestyle split in the 200 Free Relay set a new school record and achieved an All-American time • Her 100-yard Freestyle split in the 400 Free Relay tied her school record and also earned All-American status In total, Theriac recorded six All-American (Top 100 National) times across eight individual events, a remarkable achievement that underscores her versatility, consistency, and elite competitive level. As a senior captain, Theriac led by example throughout the championship meet, setting the standard in preparation, performance, and team-first leadership. Her record-breaking performances and national-level recognition make her an outstanding choice for Athlete of the Week. Athlete of the Week – Boys Swimming – Diesel Molin, Senior Senior captain Diesel Molin delivered a championship performance defined by dominance, leadership, and record-breaking success, playing a pivotal role in Mooresville High School’s outstanding team finish. Molin claimed championship victories in both the 200-yard Freestyle and the 100-yard Backstroke, breaking the school records in each event. His performances set the tone for the meet and provided critical points in two of the most competitive races on the program. Diesel was also a cornerstone of Mooresville’s relay success. He played a key role on both the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, helping the Pioneers earn 2nd-place finishes in both events while breaking the school records in each relay. His performances in the relays were instrumental in securing major championship points and elevating the team’s overall standing. Beyond the times and placements, Molin’s leadership stood out. As a senior captain, he consistently led from the front, setting a standard of focus, intensity, and accountability that elevated the entire program during the championship meet. Through championship wins, school records, and leadership under pressure, Diesel Molin delivered a performance that exemplifies excellence and makes him highly deserving of Athlete of the Week recognition.
