Mt. Vernon delivered a balanced and disciplined performance to earn a 54–26 victory over Mooresville, building an early lead and maintaining control throughout the four quarters. The opening half set the tone, as Mt. Vernon outscored Mooresville 31–12 behind consistent pressure on both ends of the floor. Mooresville responded with its best stretch in the third quarter, edging Mt. Vernon 9–8, but the visitors closed strong in the final period to seal the win. Mooresville was led offensively by Halle Moore, who scored a team-high eight points while attacking the basket and getting to the free-throw line. Millie Allison added five points, including Mooresville’s only three-pointer of the night, while Makenzie Holtzclaw also finished with five points, scoring inside and converting her lone free throw. Madisyn Phillips contributed four points and was perfect at the line, and K.J. Barton and Kenzie Garrett each chipped in two points with strong efforts in the paint. Several players made contributions beyond the box score. Esther Brimmage, Victoria Dahn, Niah Craig, Bri Addair, and Kaydence Straneva worked defensively and provided energy off the bench, helping maintain effort and intensity throughout the game despite the score. Their hustle and willingness to compete were key in keeping Mooresville engaged from start to finish. While Mt. Vernon’s depth and steady scoring proved difficult to overcome, Mooresville showed flashes of growth, particularly in the third quarter. The team will look to build on those moments as they prepare for their next game, focusing on continued development, execution, and team chemistry.
