The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week. Athlete(s) of the Week: Girls Wrestling – Kaydie Epley, Cadence Williams, Leyah Johnson (Not Pictured) & Khloe Weber(Not Pictured) This week’s Athletes of the Week honors all four Mooresville Girls Wrestlers who qualified for and competed at the IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Finals—Kaydie Epley, Cadence Williams, Leyah Johnson, and Khloe Weber. Together, they delivered a remarkable postseason performance and helped lead the Pioneers to a top-10 team finish at state, marking a milestone moment for the program. Kaydie Epley and Cadence Williams each earned 3rd-place finishes at the state finals, showcasing elite-level toughness and competitiveness on Indiana’s biggest stage. Kaydie closed her season with a 35–3 record, while Cadence finished 36–4, as both battled through deep brackets and rose to the challenge when it mattered most. Junior Leyah Johnson capped off an impressive first season with a 19–7 record after just beginning her wrestling journey this past October. Her growth and understanding of the sport have been nothing short of exceptional. Leyah consistently puts in extra time—both in the room and by helping with elementary beginners—while continuing to work relentlessly to expand her skills and knowledge. Freshman Khloe Weber finished her season at 33–3, with two of her losses coming against the eventual state champion in her weight class. Despite often being undersized, Khloe recorded multiple wins over top-ranked opponents and state placers, proving her toughness, technique, and competitive edge. Together, these four athletes represent the very best of Mooresville Wrestling—grit, growth, leadership, and relentless effort. Their collective success at the state finals reflects not only outstanding individual seasons, but also the strength, depth, and bright future of the Girls Wrestling program.
