Pioneers Can’t Slow Down the Warriors

By Nate Bingham | Jan 30, 2026 9:57 PM

The Mooresville Pioneers traveled to Johnson County on Friday night to take on the Whiteland Warriors but were unable to keep pace in a fast-moving contest. The opening half featured two contrasting styles, as Whiteland caught fire from beyond the three-point arc while Mooresville controlled the action in the paint. The tempo was frantic from the opening tip, with both teams pushing the pace. Despite the Pioneers’ inside success, the Warriors’ perimeter shooting proved to be the difference as Whiteland carried a 10-point lead into halftime. Mooresville opened the second half with renewed energy, trimming the deficit to five points on multiple occasions and putting pressure on the home team. However, a late three-point play at the end of the third quarter, followed by a Warriors three to open the fourth, pushed the lead back to double digits. The Pioneers continued to compete, but Whiteland maintained control down the stretch to secure the win. The Pioneers will look to bounce back tomorrow night as they return to action against the Westfield Shamrocks. Freshman and JV tip off at 6:00 p.m., with varsity following the JV game.
