Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week January 19th – January 24th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week Award for the week of January 19th – January 24th. The award will be given to student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week. Athlete of the Week: Girls Wrestling – Brylee Blackwell - Senior Brylee Blackwell helped lead the Pioneers to a strong 4th-place finish at the IHSGW Team State Finals, going an impressive 3-0 on the day while battling through both injuries and illness. As team captain, Brylee has consistently displayed outstanding leadership, determination, and resilience throughout the season. She finished the year with 31 wins, bringing her career total to 67 victories. While her growth and success on the mat have been remarkable, it’s her personal development off the mat—her attitude, perseverance, and positive influence on teammates—that truly set her apart. Brylee’s season is a testament to her hard work, grit, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Athlete of the Week: Boys Basketball – Jameson Elliott - Sophomore This week’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore Jameson Elliott, who delivered an outstanding all-around performance as the Pioneers went 1–1 on the weekend, highlighted by a big road victory at Greencastle. Jameson averaged 11 points, 5.5 assists, 4 deflections, and 2 steals, while shooting an efficient 48% from the field and 50% from three-point range. Stepping up as a secondary ball handler, he played with great poise and decision-making, dishing out 11 assists with only 4 turnovers in 59 minutes of action. His ability to create scoring opportunities for teammates—and then capitalize when defenses left him open—was critical to the Pioneers’ offensive success. On the defensive end, Jameson continued to be a pesky, relentless presence, consistently guarding the opponent’s top offensive guard. His activity led to deflections, steals, and momentum-changing plays, including drawing two offensive fouls by putting his body on the line for his teammates. Jameson’s toughness, efficiency, and willingness to impact the game on both ends of the floor have made him a key contributor to the Pioneers’ continued growth. Athlete of the Week: Girls Basketball – Makenzie Holtzclaw - Sophomore This week’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore Makenzie Holtzclaw, who continues to make a strong impact for the Lady Pioneers as the team grows and develops. Over three games last week, Makenzie scored 28 points, helping lead Mooresville to a victory over Cascade while competing in tough matchups against Whiteland and Northview. Makenzie showed her versatility by knocking down five three-pointers and pulling down 14 rebounds across the contests, contributing on both ends of the floor. Her willingness to do the little things—rebounding, spacing the floor, and competing possession by possession—has been key for a young Pioneer squad. Beyond the stat line, Makenzie’s work ethic and leadership stand out. She consistently puts in the effort on and off the court and is helping set the standard for what it takes to play hard and compete every night. Her growth and example continue to be valuable as the Lady Pioneers learn, improve, and build toward success. Athlete of the Week: Boys Wrestling – Kaden Lambert - Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior wrestler Kaden Lambert, whose performance at the sectional tournament and commitment to the program exemplify what it means to be a Mooresville wrestler. Entering the sectional as the 4th seed, Kaden delivered an outstanding run to finish second overall, highlighted by a major upset of the #1 seed by fall in the semifinals. His success on the mat is a direct reflection of the dedication, preparation, and focus he brings to the program every single day. Kaden’s leadership extends far beyond competition. He has been a consistent presence in the wrestling room throughout the offseason and even represented Indiana this past summer through a cultural exchange program in New Zealand. His commitment to growth—both athletically and personally—sets a powerful example for his teammates. Just as impressive is Kaden’s willingness to give back. He helps coach the elementary wrestling team, volunteers as a referee at youth tournaments, and is always the first to step up wherever help is needed. His growth over four years, resilience through challenges, and selfless leadership truly embody the spirit of the program. For his competitive success, leadership, and service, Kaden Lambert is a well-deserving Athlete of the Week.
