Mooresville Closes the Season with Strong Fourth-Quarter Effort

Mooresville continued to show resilience and growth in a tough matchup against Decatur Central, falling 69–35 while gaining valuable experience and momentum throughout the contest. The opening half presented challenges as Decatur Central found an early rhythm, but Mooresville stayed focused and competitive. The Pioneers continued to battle through each quarter, using the game as an opportunity to develop chemistry, confidence, and consistency. Mooresville showed its strongest stretch in the fourth quarter, outscoring Decatur Central 13–11. The late surge reflected improved execution, energy, and determination, as the Pioneers finished the game playing their best basketball. Niah Craig led Mooresville with nine points, knocking down two three-point shots. Halle Moore added seven points with a balanced scoring effort that included a three-pointer and free throws, while Makenzie Holtzclaw also scored seven points and was perfect from the free-throw line (3-for-3). Madisyn Phillips contributed six points and converted both of her free-throw attempts. Additional scoring came from K.J. Barton and Millie Allison, who each added two points, along with Kenzie Garrett, who scored two points from the free-throw line. Esther Brimmage, Victoria Dahn, Bri Addair, and Kaydence Straneva each contributed valuable minutes, defensive effort, and team support despite not scoring. Mooresville’s balanced contributions, strong free-throw shooting, and fourth-quarter intensity highlighted the team’s continued progress. As the season moves forward, the Pioneers will look to build on this performance, focusing on strong starts and sustained energy throughout all four quarters.
