Warriors Outlast Pioneers

By Nate Bingham | Feb 17, 2026 9:31 PM

The Mooresville Pioneers traveled to Danville in a match up against the Warriors. The Pioneers started the game on a solid note, getting quality shots because of great tempo. Danville was able to slow the Pioneers down in the second quarter going to a 3-2 zone which not only frustrated the Pioneers offensively, it created opportunities for the Warriors to get out and run themselves. After a furious finish to the half for the Warriors, the Pioneers once double digit lead was cut to just one. Much like the first half, Mooresville started the half getting stops and getting quality looks around the basket. Unfortunately, for the Pioneers, they were unable to convert on those opportunities. Once again, the frustration built from the offensive side of the ball carried over to the defensive side of the ball and Warriors were able to build a seven point lead midway through the fourth quarter. The Pioneers had one last push in them, scrabbling and eventually tying the game up and sending it to overtime. In the extra frame, Danville was able to get back to their style of game and made more plays down the stretch. The Pioneers travel to Greenwood on Friday night for their last game in the Mid-State Conference. JV tips at 6 pm with the varsity to follow.
