Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week April 6th – April 11th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week for April 6th – April 11th. This recognition is awarded weekly to one male and one female student-athlete who demonstrate excellence across all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is committed to celebrating the hard work and achievements of Mooresville student-athletes while continuing to support the growth and success of the athletic department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is grateful for its partnership with BJ Pendill and Pendill Wealth Management in recognizing and honoring our outstanding student-athletes each week. Athlete of the Week – Girls Tennis – Lyla Kaufman, Junior This week’s Athlete of the Week is junior captain Lyla Kaufman, who has opened the season in dominant fashion at #1 singles. Lyla went a perfect 4–0 in the first week of competition, earning impressive wins over Martinsville, Decatur Central, Lawrence Central, and Indianapolis Lutheran. Her performances were key in leading the Pioneers to a conference-opening victory and a championship at the Lawrence Central Invitational—the team’s third consecutive title at the event. Lyla has been nearly untouchable on the court, not dropping more than one game in any match so far this season. A three-year #1 singles player, Lyla continues to set the standard with her consistency, focus, and competitive edge. As one of the team’s captains, she leads by example—preparing herself and her teammates for each match, taking coaching adjustments in stride, and supporting those around her both on and off the court. Lyla’s strong start, leadership, and continued excellence make her a well-deserving Athlete of the Week. Athlete of the Week – Boys' Volleyball – Ty Stonehouse, Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior Ty Stonehouse, whose serving dominance and leadership have made an immediate impact early in the season. Just three weeks into competition, Ty ranks among the state leaders in service aces with 26, accomplishing this in only 18 sets played—an incredible mark that is five times above the national average. Ty is averaging an impressive 1.4 aces per set, highlighted by a 7-ace match and three separate 5-ace performances. His ability to take control from the service line provides a huge advantage for the Pioneers, consistently generating momentum and turning matches in Mooresville’s favor. When Ty steps back to serve, the team knows they can count on a strong run and critical points. Beyond his performance, Ty is a true leader on and off the court. He is actively involved in multiple leadership roles outside of volleyball and sets the standard with his work ethic, commitment, and team-first mindset. As one of the founding members of the program, Ty has helped build Mooresville Boys Volleyball from the ground up and will leave a lasting legacy when he graduates. Ty’s impact, leadership, and elite performance make him a well-deserving Athlete of the Week.
