Girls Tennis falls to Indian Creek in Non-conference Match

The Mooresville High School girls tennis team hosted Indian Creek this afternoon in a non-conference match. The Braves came away with a 4-1 victory at the varsity level and a 6-1 win in the JV match. The loss was the first of the season for the Pioneer varsity. Mooresville’s lone varsity win came at No. 1 singles, where Lyla Kaufman earned a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory. In JV action, Zoey Saner and Elly Hughes picked up the Pioneers’ only win with an 8-3 decision at No. 2 JV doubles. With the result, the varsity team moves to 6-1 overall on the season, while the JV record now stands at 2-1-1. The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, April 18, when they host the Mooresville Invitational. Play is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with first-round matchups of Mooresville vs. Southport and Martinsville vs. Edgewood. The championship round will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opening round.
