Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week April 13th – April 18th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week for April 13th – April 18th. This recognition is awarded weekly to one male and one female student-athlete who demonstrate excellence across all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is committed to celebrating the hard work and achievements of Mooresville student-athletes while continuing to support the growth and success of the athletic department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is grateful for its partnership with BJ Pendill and Pendill Wealth Management in recognizing and honoring our outstanding student-athletes each week. Athlete of the Week – Girl’s Track – Esther Brimmage, Freshman This week’s Athlete of the Week is freshman standout Esther Brimmage, whose impact across multiple events continues to elevate the Lady Pioneers. At the Joe Schott Invitational at Decatur Central, Esther placed 2nd in the 400m dash with a state top-25 time and won the 800m run, helping lead the team to a 2nd-place finish behind Cathedral. Esther’s success builds on an already impressive start to her high school career. Earlier this season, she won the 400m dash at the Avon and Plainfield meet by a significant margin and captured the 300m hurdles title at the Pendleton Heights Invitational, finishing within a second of the school record. She also set a new indoor school record in the 60m hurdles and has been a key contributor on the 4x200m and 4x400m relays, with the 4x200 team winning the Brownsburg Last Chance Qualifier against larger schools. Now ranked in the top 50 in the state in the 400m dash, 300m hurdles, and 800m run, Esther has proven to be one of the most versatile athletes in the program. Her ability to contribute across sprint, hurdle, distance, and relay events highlights both her talent and her team-first mindset. Despite her success, Esther leads in a quiet, respectful way—earning the trust of her teammates through performance and consistency while supporting the leadership of upperclassmen. Her steady improvement, work ethic, and willingness to fill whatever role the team needs have made her an invaluable part of the program. As the season progresses, Esther’s continued growth and versatility will play a major role in the Lady Pioneers’ success, making her a well-deserving Athlete of the Week. Athlete of the Week – Boy’s Baseball – Hudson DeVaughan, Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior pitcher Hudson DeVaughan, who has opened his 2026 season in dominant fashion on the mound for the Pioneers. Hudson made his season debut in the home opener against Martinsville, tossing 4 perfect innings with 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and 11 strikeouts in a 21–0 victory. With more than 20 Major League scouts in attendance, DeVaughan delivered a commanding performance that set the tone for his senior season. He followed that outing with an even more impressive performance in the Battle of 67 Trophy Game against Decatur Central, throwing a complete game shutout in a 2–0 win. Hudson allowed just 2 hits, issued 1 walk, and struck out an incredible 17 batters, leading the Pioneers to a key rivalry victory. Through his first two starts, Hudson is a perfect 2–0, recording 28 strikeouts, allowing just 2 hits, and giving up zero runs. Beyond the numbers, Hudson is a team captain and leader, setting the standard through both performance and presence. He is vocal, coachable, and committed to constant improvement, while also investing in the development of younger players and supporting his fellow pitchers. His strong work ethic and preparation ensure he is always ready to compete at a high level. Hudson’s dominance on the mound, combined with his leadership and commitment to his team, make him a well-deserving Athlete of the Week.
