The MHS girls tennis teams faced a strong challenge this afternoon against Whiteland in a Mid-State Conference matchup. The Warriors secured a 4–1 victory at the varsity level and an 8–1 win in the JV contest. The Pioneers’ lone varsity victory came at #1 singles, where Lyla Kaufman battled through a grueling match filled with multiple tiebreakers to come out on top. Kaufman capped off an outstanding week, finishing 4–0 with two conference wins. On the JV side, the only win came at #8 doubles, where Brooke Mitchell and Elly Hughes teamed up for the victory. With the results, the varsity squad moves to 8–3 overall and 2–2 in conference play, while the JV team now stands at 4–4–1 overall and 1–2–1 in the conference. The team will take a well-earned rest day tomorrow before returning to action on Monday, April 27, when they host Greencastle in a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.
