Mooresville Pioneers Varsity Baseball Wednesday Night Game Two Final Mooresville Pioneers- 7 Greenwood Woodmen- 6 The Mooresville Pioneers and Greenwood Woodmen battled for seven innings in game two of Wednesday nights Mid State Conference double header, a game that Greenwood lead 4-2 through five and a half innings. The Pioneers were able to plate three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead into the top of the seventh inning. Greenwood would fight back in the top half of the seventh to take a 6-5 lead through six and a half innings. The Pioneers were down to three outs in the bottom half of the seventh but would eventually win 7-6 on a walk off walk. Kooper Schmitt got the start for the Pioneers, Schmitt went one inning allowed 4 hits, 4 earned runs, and walked 3. Sophomore Micheal Langley who was called up from the Junior Varsity on Wednesday afternoon releived Schmitt in the second inning and wasted no time making an impact in his Varsity debut. Langley recorded five scoreless innings in releife, allowed just one hit, one earned run (run that scored on a walk Langley gave up in the seventh), walked three, and struck out eight Greenwood batters. After a lead off walk by Langley in the top of the seventh, Tyler Denny was brought in in relief of Langley with one on and no outs. Denny allowed one hit, one earned run, walked one, one HBP, and struck out one as Greenwood took a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Pioneers offense struggled to get things started after taking an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Mooresville was held scoreless for three innings (2nd, 3rd, and 4th inning) yet chipped away at the Woodmen lead, scoring in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-2. Mooresville would score three in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead and would win game two in the bottom of the seventh 7-6. Mooresville's offense had 8 hits spread out over seven players. Levi Welty lead the way with two hits, Tyler Denny, Adam Biddle, Nate Daley, Arher Query, Caden Lee, and Grant Martin accounted for the remaining six. With the 7-6 win in game two, Mooresville's regular season record sits at 12-4 and 7-3 in the Mid State Conference. The Mooresville Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday May 9th and will travel to Evansville North High School to take on Gibson Southern and Evansville North. The Mooresville Pioneers Varsity Baseball team want to thank the parents, families, students, and fans along with the Mooresville High School Administrtaion for the support throughout Wednesday double header. #mooresvillepioneersbaseball2026
