Pioneers Fall to Greencastle in Non-Conference Match

The MHS girls tennis team hosted Greencastle this afternoon for a non-conference matchup. The Tiger Cubs came away with a 4-1 varsity victory and a 5-2 win at the JV level. For the Pioneers, the lone varsity victory came at #2 doubles where Savannah Walker and Brooke Mitchell battled to a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win. In JV action, Brooklyn Rawlins and Katie Taylor earned a 6-3 victory at #1 JV doubles, while Elly Hughes and Maddi Garrison won a thrilling 7-6 (8-6) match at #3 JV doubles. With the loss, the varsity fell to 8-9 overall on the season, while the JV record moved to 4-10-1. The Pioneers return to action tomorrow, May 13, when they travel to face Plainfield in a Mid-State Conference matchup scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
