Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week May 11th – May 16th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week for May 11th – May 16th. This recognition is awarded weekly to one male and one female student-athlete who demonstrate excellence across all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is committed to celebrating the hard work and achievements of Mooresville student-athletes while continuing to support the growth and success of the athletic department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is grateful for its partnership with BJ Pendill and Pendill Wealth Management in recognizing and honoring our outstanding student-athletes each week. Athlete of the Week – Girl’s Tennis – Jacey Bell, Junior This week’s Athlete of the Week is junior Jacey Bell, whose leadership, toughness, and positive presence have made a major impact on the Girls’ Tennis program this season. Jacey has stepped into a challenging role at #1 doubles after playing #2 doubles last year, and she has embraced the opportunity with confidence and determination. This week, she competed hard against two state-ranked opponents, Greencastle and Plainfield. While the results did not go her way, Jacey showed tremendous fight, sportsmanship, and growth against some of the toughest competition in the state. Her contributions have been vital throughout the season. Jacey was instrumental in helping the Pioneers win the Lawrence Central Invitational and jump out to an 8–2 start. As one of the team’s captains, she is a vocal and positive leader who takes pride in making sure her teammates are prepared, focused, and ready to compete. Jacey consistently listens to coaching, works to apply new strategies, and leads with a team-first attitude. Her record may be near .500, but the experience she has gained at #1 doubles has made her stronger and will be extremely valuable as the Pioneers enter sectional play. For her leadership, resilience, and commitment to the team, Jacey Bell is a well-deserving Athlete of the Week. Athlete of the Week – Boy’s Baseball – Levi Welty, Freshman This week’s Athlete of the Week is freshman pitcher Levi Welty, who delivered a tremendous performance in a big moment for the Pioneers. After Mooresville suffered a tough loss to Plainfield on Tuesday, Levi was given the start on the road against the Quakers on Wednesday and responded with a complete-game effort. He threw 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and 2 walks, while striking out 5 to help lead the Pioneers to a huge 6–2 Mid-State Conference victory. Levi’s performance was a major lift for Mooresville, giving the team exactly what it needed to bounce back and regain momentum. For a freshman to step into that situation, on the road, against a conference opponent, and deliver a complete game speaks volumes about his poise, confidence, and competitiveness. Beyond his performance on the mound, Levi has shown a great attitude, strong coachability, and a team-first mindset. His ability to learn, compete, and respond to challenges will serve him well as he continues to grow in the program. Levi’s composure, effort, and impact in a key conference win make him a well-deserving Athlete of the Week, and his future as a Pioneer is extremely bright.
