Mooresville Athletics

Mooresville hosted their annual Invitational today at Heartland Crossing golf course. 78 girls from 12 different high school girl’s golf teams competed against each other and the course on what turned out to be an incredible day weather wise. The Mooresville Invite is played with a unique format: 2 person teams from each school compete as a team in what is called a better ball format. Each girl plays their own ball on each hole and their team takes the better score of the 2 girls. Each school puts a team in 3 separate flights (divisions). This is always a nice break for the girls after about 1 third of the season. In the A flight today, Senior’s Julianna Bell and Bri Addair took home 1st place with a team score of 81 defeating the team from Decatur Central, who also shot a team score of 81 by a tie breaker on the 18th hole scores. In the B flight Mooresville’s team of Elizabeth Tiley and Emily West (both Juniors) tied for first with a team score of 84 with Brebeuf but unfortunately lost the tie breaker and took home the 2nd place trophy in their flight. And finally in the C flight, Sophomores Karleigh Reese and Kallie Arthur finished 2nd with a team score of 85 missing out by 1 shot from the team from Noblesville. The Lady Pioneers are back in action Monday when travel to Maple Creek golf course to take on Cathedral.
