The Mooresville Pioneers Boys Tennis Team traveled to Bloomington North on Tuesday evening for a Mid-State Conference matchup. Originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m., the match was pushed back to 7 p.m. due to the excessive heat. Despite the difficult conditions, the Pioneers came out ready to compete. Most of the matches were extremely competitive during the opening set, with MHS battling point-for-point against a strong Bloomington North team. At the varsity level, Sam Mommertz and Baylor Query both played particularly well in their singles matches. Each was able to stay close with his opponent and battled throughout the match. Across the remainder of the varsity and JV lineups, the Pioneers continued to compete hard but ultimately struggled against Bloomington North's consistent and well-placed shots. With the loss, the MHS varsity moves to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in Mid-State Conference play. The JV's overall record falls to 1-8, while its conference record moves to 1-3. The Pioneers will look to bounce back quickly when they return home on Wednesday, September 2, to take on West Vigo. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the MHS tennis courts.
