Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week August 31st – September 5th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week for August 31st – September 5th. This recognition is awarded weekly to one male and one female student-athlete who demonstrate excellence across all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is committed to celebrating the hard work and achievements of Mooresville student-athletes while continuing to support the growth and success of the athletic department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is grateful for its partnership with BJ Pendill and Pendill Wealth Management in recognizing and honoring our outstanding student-athletes each week. Athlete of the Week – Girl’s Cross Country – Amelia Allender, Junior This week’s Athlete of the Week is junior Amelia Allender, who has established herself as one of the leaders of the Mooresville Girls Cross Country team through her consistency, work ethic, and continued improvement throughout the early part of the season. Amelia opened the year as one of the Pioneers’ top runners, setting a personal record at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. She followed that performance with another strong race at Plainfield, where she and teammate Carlee McIntosh were the first Pioneers to cross the finish line. Since then, Amelia has continued to build on that strong start. Meet after meet, she has continued to improve her times and establish new personal bests, showing that the work she is putting in during the week is translating directly to her performances on race day. Her steady progression has made her an important part of the Pioneers’ lineup. What makes Amelia’s success even more impressive is the commitment required to make it happen. Because of her Area 31 class schedule, her practice routine looks different from many of her teammates. Rather than allowing that to become an obstacle, Amelia consistently puts in the extra effort necessary to complete her training and continue improving. Amelia’s approach is a great example of leadership through actions. She has shown a willingness to put in the work, adapt when necessary, and continue challenging herself to get better each time she competes. For her continued improvement, consistent performances, and outstanding work ethic, Amelia Allender is a well-deserving Athlete of the Week. Athlete of the Week – Boy’s Soccer – Dakota Strachan, Senior This week’s Athlete of the Week is senior captain Dakota Strachan, whose performance, work ethic, and leadership continue to make an impact for the Mooresville Boys Soccer team. Dakota highlighted his week with a strong offensive performance against Plainfield, scoring both of the Pioneers’ goals. His ability to step up and find the back of the net provided an important spark for his team and demonstrated the competitiveness he brings every time he takes the field. While his two-goal performance stood out on the stat sheet, Dakota’s impact on the Pioneers goes well beyond scoring. As a team captain, he leads by example through his effort and preparation. He consistently works hard and challenges his teammates to raise their level of play each day. Dakota also brings the energy and enthusiasm his team needs throughout a long season. Whether things are going well or the Pioneers are facing adversity, he works to keep his teammates motivated, encourages them to keep their heads up, and looks for any way he can contribute to the team's success. With this being his final season in a Pioneer uniform, Dakota is determined to make the most of every opportunity. He has brought a noticeable fire and drive to his senior year and continues to set an example for those around him. For his two-goal performance against Plainfield and the leadership, energy, and work ethic he brings to the program every day, Dakota Strachan is a well-deserving Athlete of the Week.
