Sectional Thriller

On a warm fall evening at Dr. William E. Roberson soccer practice, the Lady Pioneers took on a tough Terre Haute North Braves squad. The first half went back and forth with neither team giving up a goal. With around 25 minutes or so to go in the second half, sophomore Chloe Thompson opened up the scoring bending in a corner kick that banked off the back post and in! The Pioneers played an extremely good defensive game, but the Braves put up an equalizer with roughly 9 minutes to go. Senior Amiya Dindiyal was fouled with 3 minutes to go. Thompson again stepped up for a free kick. The well struck ball deflected off the keeper to an awaiting sophomore Mia Goley to put the Pioneers up for good. Ava Orebaugh played tough in goal and recorded 14 saves. The Pioneers played Bloomington South for the sectional championship Saturday at 2pm.
