The Mooresville JV girls battled back after a rough start but came up short against Bishop Chatard, falling 33-27. The Trojans jumped out fast, piling up 19 points in the first quarter to take a 19-9 lead. Mooresville answered in the second, holding Chatard to just five points while scoring eight of its own to cut the gap to 24-17 at halftime. Bishop Chatard pushed the lead back to 11 in a low-scoring third quarter, outscoring Mooresville 7-3 to lead 31-20 heading into the final period. The Pioneers refused to fold. Their defense allowed only two points in the fourth quarter, and a 7-2 run made it a six-point game, but time ran out on the comeback. After the first quarter, Mooresville outscored Bishop Chatard 18-14 the rest of the way. That stretch is a promising sign for a group that showed it can defend and compete with a strong opponent. Sophia Brown led Mooresville with 7 points. Maredith Simpson, Kadynce Straneva and Alexa Blackwell each added 5, Eastyn Deemer chipped in 4, and Addy Snodgrass scored 1. Six different players scored, showing balance throughout the lineup.
