Mooresville Girls Tennis Sweeps Speedway in Non-Conference Match

The Mooresville Pioneers girls tennis team delivered a strong performance this afternoon against Speedway, earning a clean 5-0 sweep in varsity play and a 5-3 win in JV action. In the varsity match: #1 Singles: Lyla Kaufman continued her stellar play with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win. #2 Singles: Hadley Miller battled through a tough match to come out on top, 7-5, 6-2. #3 Singles: Adilynn Breedlove played the longest match of the day and pulled out a hard-fought 6-3, 5-7, (10-7) victory. #1 Doubles: Emily Mettas and Tori Shields rallied from an early deficit to win 6-4, 6-0. #2 Doubles: Jacey Bell and Grace Coon secured a solid 6-4, 6-1 win. In junior varsity action, the Pioneers won 5 of 8 matches: Singles: Hailey Hoffman won 8-6. Doubles: Ava Krauss / Carissa Kennedy: 8-3 win Brooklyn Rawlins / Abby Bolton: 8-3 win Brooke Mitchell / Lydia Vanover: 8-3 win Bre Eavey / Katie Taylor: 8-2 win Belle Johnson / Evie Welker: 2-6 loss Maddi Garrison / Stephanie Esqueda: 6-7 (5-7) loss Amelia Lindsey Turnmire / Alexis Williams: 0-6 loss With this win, the varsity improves to 6-2 on the season, while the JV moves to 3-2-1. The Pioneers are back in action on Tuesday, April 22, as they travel to Perry Meridian for a Mid-State Conference showdown. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
