Pioneers Fall to Perry Meridian in Mid-State Match-Up

The Mooresville Pioneers girls tennis team traveled to Perry Meridian on Monday for a Mid-State Conference showdown. The host Falcons claimed a 4-1 victory in varsity play and a 9-3 win in junior varsity action. Varsity Recap: #1 Singles: Lyla Kaufman continued her impressive season with a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 win. #2 Singles: Hadley Miller battled through a tough match but fell 0-6, 0-6. #3 Singles: Adilynn Breedlove gave a strong effort but came up short, 0-6, 2-6. #1 Doubles: Jacey Bell and Hailey Hoffman lost 0-6, 0-6. #2 Doubles: Carissa Kennedy and Ava Krauss fought hard but dropped a 4-6, 1-6 decision. Junior Varsity Recap: The JV squad won three of twelve matches: Singles: Abby Bolton (0-8) Amelia Lindsey-Turnmire (0-8) Doubles: Tori Shields / Emily Mettas: 2-8 loss Brooklyn Rawlins / Grace Coon: 0-8 loss Katie Taylor / Lydia Vanover: 5-8 loss Brooke Mitchell / Belle Johnson: 5-8 loss Bre Eavey / Evie Welker: 3-8 loss Alexis Williams / Stephanie Esqueda: 0-8 loss Wins: Maddi Garrison / Grace Coon: 6-1 Katie Taylor / Brooke Mitchell: 6-0 Brooklyn Rawlins / Lydia Vanover: 6-0 With the loss, the varsity team drops to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The JV team now stands at 3-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, April 23, hosting Southport for Senior Night. Senior introductions will begin at 4:50 PM, with matches set to start at 5:00 PM.
