Mooresville High School Athletic Department Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week April 14th – April 19th The Mooresville High School Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Pendill Wealth Management Athletes of the Week Award for the week of April 14th – April 19th. The award will be given to one female and one male student-athletes who displayed athletic excellence in all areas of competition during the previous week of athletic contests. Pendill Wealth Management is a proud to recognize student athletes for their athletic achievements each week while supporting the Mooresville Athletic Department. The Mooresville Athletic Department is honored to partner with BJ Pendill to recognize the Mooresville High School student athlete of the week. Athlete of the Week – Softball – Sophie Culp, Senior Congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week, Sophie Culp, a standout member of the Mooresville High School softball team. Sophie had an outstanding week both at the plate and in the field. Over the course of three games, she delivered an impressive 8 hits in 13 at-bats, earning a .615 batting average and scoring 6 runs. As a key figure at the top of the lineup, Sophie brings consistency and energy every time she steps up to the plate. Defensively, Sophie continues to shine as a strong and reliable outfielder. She made several clutch plays in the field that directly saved multiple runs, proving to be a difference-maker on both sides of the game. Her leadership, work ethic, and steady improvement have made her an invaluable asset to the team. As the season continues, there’s no doubt Sophie will keep playing at a high level and helping lead the Lady Pioneers to success. Athlete of the Week – Baseball – Kooper Schmitt, Sophomore This week’s Athlete of the Week honors go to Kooper Schmitt, a standout sophomore on the Mooresville Pioneers baseball team, who continues to impress both on the mound and at the plate. On Tuesday, in a conference matchup against MSC rival Decatur Central, Kooper delivered a dominant performance on the hill. He threw 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits, no walks, and racking up 9 strikeouts to earn his second win of the season. At the plate, he went 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI, helping lead the Pioneers to a commanding 9-0 victory. Kooper followed up that stellar outing with a milestone moment on Saturday, April 19, launching his first career Varsity home run against Hanover Central in the "Bullpen X Prep Baseball Indiana Series" at Championship Park in Kokomo. Through the early part of the season, Schmitt is hitting .409 (9-for-22) with 3 doubles, 1 home run, and 8 RBI. On the mound, he holds a perfect 2-0 record in 11.2 innings pitched, allowing 8 hits, 3 earned runs, and 5 walks, while striking out 18. Kooper’s versatility, poise, and competitive spirit are a big part of the Pioneers’ success so far this season.
